Packet Quality Inspection (PQI) recently received new explicit recognitions from our customers |

PQI is an overall quality check system for cigarette packets, both hinge-lid and soft, installed on the channel between the packer and the wrapper. It is based on cameras connected to a vision system, which processes the images of each packet and rejects any defective products. The system was recently updated, especially in the packet inspection area, where a spherical structure has been added which permits creating improved diffusion of the lighting and considerably better quality in the images collected. A suction conveyor belt holds the packet in the on-edge position, while three cameras inspect five of the six packet surfaces. The vision system can be connected to a further camera, fitted at the exit from the packer to complete the inspection of the sixth and last packet surface. As the PQI is positioned on the channel, it is suitable for assembly on any G.D packing line, and permits overall quality checking, above all for those machines which do not have an integrated vision system available.
