Record performance for the DF10, the first double-rod machine for cigarette filter production

After careful marketing and design surveys, G.D has produced its first filter-making machine. Based on the double-rod concept, initially introduced in a totally innovative manner on its cigarette maker machines, the DF10 is also an absolutely new design concept for the production of filters. Its production capacity is much higher than any other filter rod maker presently on the market The DF10 produces 500 meters per minute per rod-making line, for a total of 1,000 linear meters per minute, with maximum flexibility, product quality and optimization of the materials being used.

Thanks to the cooperation with JT Group the first DF10, which was installed in mid-2007 at the JT Group Plant in Trier Germany, reached its expected level of performance very shortly after actual installation, successfully passing a test consisting of 30 consecutive shifts. During the test, which was conducted from October 25 to November 30, under the strictest JT Group parameters, the DF10 achieved an average efficiency in excess of 96%. Furthermore, during one eight-hour shift, it set a new world production record of over 3,700,000 126 mm filter rods produced at an efficiency of 99.6%, and a maximum running time of seven hours and 30 minutes. At the same time, the DF10 also provided excellent results, with a 5-minute changeover time for brand conversion, and 22 minutes for filter length conversion.

The DF10 has demonstrated how the G.D’s double-rod technology is the ideal solution enabling manufacturers to achieve both maximum output and higher efficiency in this new area of filter production.
