The photos taken by winners of the GD4PhotoArt competition, promoted by GD and the Isabella Serągnoli Foundation, will be on show at the National Picture Gallery in Bologna (Via Belle Arti, 56) from 30 September to 2 November.
The four photographers created an original project for GD4PhotoArt, presenting their own personal interpretation of "Industry, Society and Territory": French artist Olivia Gay will show "Le dentelličres de Calais" depicting women at work in the Noyon mechanical lace factory in Calais; the British photographer Justin Jin will feature with "Zone of Absolute Discomfort" describing life in the far north of Russia, where conditions are very hard but habitable enough to keep alive mines extracting millions of tons of oil, gas and minerals; Italy's Alessandro Sambini will show the project "Na mota e 'na busa" on stockpiles seen as the product of human creativity; Dutch photographer Niels Stomps' "Eldorado" project shows three series of photographs on the scientific research activity carried out on the Svalbard islands.Promoted by GD and the Isabella Serągnoli Foundation, the exhibition has an accompanying catalogue prepared by Giovanna Calvenzi and published by Damiani Editore.
The GD4PhotoArt competition was introduced in 2007 to promote the work of young artists and create a collection of industrial photography to be incorporated into a permanent collection in the GD museum, currently in construction.
The museum will be a meeting point of creativity and technology.
