From November 7th to 23rd 2008, the exhibition Photography meets Industry will take place at Palazzo Pepoli Campogrande, Via Castiglione 7, Bologna, Italy. It is the result of the photographic competition by invitation for young European photographers, GD4PhotoArt, promoted by G.D and the Isabella Serągnoli Foundation. This cultural initiative is the first step of a systematic monitoring activity on photography and industry with the aim of creating a permanent collection to be allocated in G.D's Museum, whose construction will start in January 2009. The Museum will have a section dedicated to industrial photography.
The biennial selection, at its first edition in 2007/2008, called 31 photographers to face the theme of "Industry, Society and Territory". A jury made up of experts in the field selected the three scholarship winners: Dita Pepe from the Czech Republic, Rob Hornstra from Holland and Lea Crespi from France. The three winners carried out their photographic projects on industry and the transformation it induces in society using different, personalised styles. Their works and an image of each of the competition participants will be exhibited on this occasion to testimony "the great vitality of European photography but also the relevance of themes linked to industry and workplaces" as Giovanna Calvenzi states in the catalogue.
