GD4ART: European photographic competition

GD4ART is a biennale competition for young European photographers. The event is promoted by G.D and the theme of the competition is "Industry, Society and Environment". Thirty-one artists submitted their photographic projects, which were judged by a panel of leading experts. The jury had a very difficult task, as the quality of all the submissions was very high. In the end, three winning artists were selected; each artist will receive a cash grant to be used for the realisation of their project.

The winning artists are Dita Pepe of the Czech Republic, Rob Hornstra of the Netherlands and Lea Crespi of France. Each artist will create 15 works on the theme of industry and the transformations it can effect on both society and the environment. The final work must be submitted by the 30th of April 2008. Before the end of 2008, an exhibition will be mounted of the works of the three winning artists. One example of the work of each artist who submitted projects will also be displayed. This first edition of GD4ART will represent the beginning of a permanent collection on the theme "Photography and Industry", which will be housed in a future G.D Museum.
